Short answer

Twitch gives Affiliates 50% net of each subscription, 1 US cent per Bit, and 55% net ad revenue when they run 3 ad minutes per hour. It pays 15 days after the month ends, once you reach $50. Kick gives streamers 95% of subscriptions and KICKs, and a sub costs $5. Neither platform publishes an hourly rate.

Before you start

  • A Twitch or Kick account you've already streamed on at least once
  • Your legal name and tax details, since both platforms ask for them before paying
  • A PayPal or bank account in your name for Twitch, or a Stripe-supported bank for Kick

Step by step

  1. 01

Check what a viewer pays for a Twitch sub

Twitch Help: Local Subscription Pricing Countries ↗

Someone just subbed and you're already doing math in your head. Start with the price. Twitch sets the sub price by the subscriber's country, and you can't change it. As of October 9, 2026, a Tier 1 sub on the web is 60 Mexican pesos in Mexico, $5.99 in the US and 4.99 euros in Spain. Mobile prices can differ, because that table covers web purchases only.

What you should see: When you click Subscribe on a channel in a browser, the Tier 1 price shows in your local currency.

  2. 02

Learn how to raise your cut of each sub

    Twitch Help: Plus Program ↗

Twitch's Plus Program improves your share of paid recurring subs. Hold 100 Plus Points for 3 months in a row and you move to a 60/40 net split, hold 300 and it's 70/30. A Tier 1 sub is 1 point, Tier 2 is 2 and Tier 3 is 6. Prime subs don't earn Plus Points. Those are the standard thresholds: in some Latin American countries they're lower, see the FAQ. Figures as of October 9, 2026.

What you should see: Earnings Analytics shows the Plus Program panel with this month's Plus Points.

  3. 03

Find your Bits settings and where they show up

Twitch Help: Cheering: for Monetized Streamers ↗

Bits are what your chat uses to Cheer. In Creator Dashboard, open Settings, Monetization, then Bits & Cheering. There you see the minimum Bits to Cheer, which defaults to 1. Twitch recommends starting with the default and raising it gradually if your chat fills with spam. These settings can't be changed on mobile. What each Bit pays you is covered in the questions below.

What you should see: In Creator Dashboard, under Total Estimated Revenue, your Bits earnings show up listed under Cheering.

  4. 04

Set your ads to reach the 55% share

Twitch Help: How to Set Your Ad Schedule ↗

Ads are available to Affiliates and Partners. Twitch pays you 55% of the net ad revenue from your channel when you run at least 3 minutes of ads per hour in Ads Manager. There's no minimum number of streamed hours. Those 3 minutes also switch off pre-roll ads for people joining your stream. Ad income moves from month to month with advertiser demand, so there's no fixed rate per 1,000 views.

What you should see: The ad density slider in Ads Manager sits on Recommended or High.

Remember Spendable Balance if you're not an Affiliate yet

Twitch Help: About Monetization on Twitch ↗

Twitch opened subs and Bits to anyone who finishes monetization setup. The catch is that the money sits as Spendable Balance, and you have to enroll before you can use it. You can spend it inside Twitch, say on Bits or subs for other channels, but you can't withdraw it until you're an Affiliate. Hitting $50 changes nothing while you're still not an Affiliate.

What you should see: Under Monetization, Setup, Step 1 (Set Up Tools) is complete and Step 2, Set Up Spendable Balance, appears.

  6. 06

Know when Twitch pays and the minimum

Twitch Help: Twitch Affiliate Program FAQ ↗

As an Affiliate, you need at least $50 with most payout methods, or $100 by wire transfer. Twitch pays 15 days after the end of the month you earned it in. April's money is sent on May 15, then takes 1 to 2 days to arrive by PayPal or 1 to 4 days by eCheck or local bank. If you change your payout details, ideally do it before the 10th. Twitch warns that changes after the 8th may miss that month's payout.

What you should see: Under Creator Dashboard, Monetization, your payout method shows as saved.

Move to Kick: a $5 sub and a 95/5 split

Kick Help: Understanding KICK's revenue split ↗

On Kick a subscription is $5 a month. You keep $4.75 of each one and the other $0.25 is the processing fee. You also keep 95% of KICKs, Kick's tipping currency.

What you should see: Kick's revenue split page shows the 95/5 split for subs and KICKs.

  8. 08

Learn how the Kick Partner Program pays per stream

    Kick Streamer: Partner Program ↗

Kick's per-stream pay sits on top of subs, and it isn't for everyone. You verify your channel first: in the last 30 days, 15 hours streamed, 50 average viewers, 100 unique chatters and 10 active subs, plus a confirmed phone number and two-factor authentication. Kick also asks for no username change in 30 days, 2 VODs on your channel from the past 7 days, no rules violations in 30 days and existing Affiliate status. Then the Partner Program asks for 75 average concurrent viewers, 25 active subs and 250 followers, plus 30 hours and 250 unique chatters in the last 30 days. You apply by emailing kickpartners@kick.com. Kick calculates this income per organic view, but doesn't publish a rate per hour or per viewer. Multistream and you earn half.

What you should see: You have Kick's verification and Partner Program requirements written down to compare against your own stats.

  9. 09

Set up Stripe to get paid on Kick

Kick Help: KICK payout schedule, thresholds, and methods ↗

Kick pays everything through Stripe. Verify your identity with Stripe, add a bank in a supported country and confirm your payout currency. Unverified channels get paid monthly. Verified channels can ask support for weekly or monthly payouts. Your first payout comes at the end of the next monthly cycle, up to 30 days after the month ends, and outside the US it takes 3 to 7 business days to arrive. Kick doesn't publish one minimum amount, because local rules set it per country. If Stripe doesn't pay out where you live, you can't be paid yet.

What you should see: Your Stripe account shows as verified and your balance appears in US dollars in the Streamer Dashboard.

If something does not work

You have a Twitch balance but no payout shows up
If you're not an Affiliate, the money stays as Spendable Balance even past $50. If you are, check you've reached the minimum and that you're looking at the right cycle, since this month's earnings pay out on the 15th of next month.
Twitch rejected your PayPal payout
Your country, legal name and PayPal email have to match exactly what PayPal has on file. Fix it under Monetization, Affiliate, ideally before the 10th, since changes after the 8th may miss that month's payout.
A sub paid you far less than you expected
The 50% is worked out after taxes and fees, and tax withholding comes on top based on your tax interview. Check you filled it in correctly, because one wrong answer can raise the withholding. Twitch keeping things complicated, as usual.
Kick won't let you add a bank account
Stripe doesn't pay out to every country. If yours isn't covered, Kick can't pay you yet. Make sure your Stripe identity check is finished, and if it still fails, email subscriptions@kick.com with your username.

Test before you go live

  • You know the sub price in the country most of your viewers are in.
  • Your tax details and payout method match your legal name.
  • You've noted which month you'll be paid for this month's earnings.
  • You've decided whether ads are worth it for your channel.
  • If you stream on Kick, Stripe is verified. And that's it, you know where every dollar comes from.

Common questions

How much does Twitch pay per 1,000 views?

Twitch doesn't pay for views. Only ads are priced per thousand: you get 55% of net ad revenue when you run 3 ad minutes per hour, and the amount follows advertiser demand each month.

How much do you make with 100 viewers on Twitch?

Twitch doesn't publish a figure, because it depends on how many people sub, how many Bits they send and what advertisers pay that month. Read your own numbers in Earnings Analytics instead of trusting online calculators.

When does Twitch start paying you?

Once you're an Affiliate with at least $50 earned, or $100 for wire transfer. Payment goes out 15 days after the month ends, so April's earnings are sent on May 15.

How much is a Bit worth to the streamer?

Per Twitch Creator Camp, you get 1 US cent for every Bit used in your chat. So 100 Bits are $1 and 1,000 Bits are $10. Bits spent inside an Extension pay you 80% of that cent, and the extension developer gets the rest.

How much does a Twitch sub cost?

In the US the tiers are $5.99, $9.99 and $24.99. In Mexico, Tier 1 is 60 pesos on the web. Twitch sets prices by country, and mobile prices can differ.

How much is a Kick sub worth to the streamer?

Kick's help center lists subs at $5 a month. You keep $4.75 and $0.25 goes to the processing fee.

Does Kick really pay $16 an hour?

That number gets passed around in articles and videos, but Kick's official pages don't publish any hourly rate. Kick says its Partner Program pays per organic live view, and only to verified channels that meet the requirements. If someone promises you a fixed rate, be suspicious.

What do I need to turn on subscriptions on Kick?

Kick's English help page asks for 5 cumulative hours of streaming, and the Spanish version adds 75 followers. The two pages don't match, so check Achievements in your dashboard to see which applies to you.

How much of a sub does Twitch keep?

The standard Affiliate split is 50/50 with Twitch. Before the split, Twitch takes out taxes, payment processing, bank fees and currency conversion, and after it, tax withholding still applies. So half the sticker price isn't what lands in your account.

Are the Plus Program thresholds lower in Latin America?

Yes, but only for monetizing streamers based in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, El Salvador, Uruguay or Venezuela. Since June 1, 2025, Twitch asks for 50 Plus Points for Level 1 (60/40) and 200 for Level 2 (70/30) instead of 100 and 300, for 3 months in a row. Twitch decides where you're based from your onboarding details, IP location and tax information. Spain isn't on the list and stays at 100 and 300.
