Short answer

Twitch's current Affiliate path uses four achievements: 25 followers, 4 streamed hours, 4 different stream days, and an average of 3 viewers on 4 stream days within 30 days. Track the panel in Creator Dashboard, complete the onboarding invitation, then review which tools are available in your account. Treat earnings [$] as variable and keep records for your tax rules.

Before you start

  • A Twitch account with Creator Dashboard access
  • A stream setup that can broadcast and record a short test
  • A simple way to track stream days and viewer averages

Step by step

Read the current path to Affiliate

Open Creator Dashboard and go to Achievements. Twitch currently lists 25 followers, 4 streamed hours, 4 different days, and an average of 3 viewers on 4 stream days within a 30-day period.

What you should see: The four progress bars appear in the Affiliate section. If one is missing, use the dashboard help link before changing your setup.

Separate tools from the payout step

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 0:31 ↗

Twitch may show monetization tools before every payout step is complete. A wallet or enabled feature does not mean money is ready to withdraw. Read the onboarding screen for your account.

What you should see: You can name which tools are active and which onboarding item remains.

  3. 03

Finish the invitation and payment details

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 2:32 ↗

When Twitch sends the Affiliate invitation, open it from Creator Dashboard or the email linked to your account. Complete the tax and payment screens with your own legal details.

What you should see: The dashboard shows the completed onboarding state. Save a private copy of the confirmation.

  4. 04

Check what your account can use

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 3:02 ↗

Visit Monetization and Viewer Rewards after onboarding. Twitch can change which tools are offered by account, location, or program state, so use the labels in your own dashboard.

What you should see: You have a short list of enabled tools and one next setup task.

  5. 05

    Read your first channel data

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 5:35 ↗

Open Analytics and compare the average viewers panel with the stream days that count toward the path. Review categories you already enjoy before choosing a game for its number.

What you should see: You can identify the stream days that qualify and one category worth testing.

  6. 06

Use clips as a second discovery path

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 7:37 ↗

Mark a clear moment during a stream and turn it into a clip. Put useful context in the title and share it where your viewers already spend time.

What you should see: A viewer can tell what happened in the clip and where to find the next stream.

  7. 07

Treat the badge as a checkpoint

    Nicole Rojas · YouTube · 8:37 ↗

Affiliate status adds tools. It does not replace a clear stream idea or a reason to return. Choose one repeatable format, review the result after a few streams, and change the format before adding software.

What you should see: Your next stream has one format, one test, and one result to review.

If something does not work

The progress panel has not updated
Twitch says progress can take time to update. Check qualifying dates in Achievements, then wait for the dashboard to refresh before repeating a stream.
You have tools but cannot withdraw
Reopen onboarding and payment sections. Check the account state shown by Twitch and contact support if the completed invitation does not appear.
Your average drops after a stream
Read the qualifying stream days instead of reacting to one minute. Keep the format for another test so the comparison means something.

Test before you go live

  • Achievements shows the four current Affiliate requirements
  • Onboarding status is complete
  • Enabled tools are written down
  • One repeatable stream format is planned
  • One clip has context and a destination
