Create the canvas

Split it into three pages

The first frame should orient the viewer, the coverage page should fill the canvas, and the exit should reveal the new scene. Note when full coverage begins. That moment is your first reference for the transition point in OBS.

Set background and logo

Animate with intent

Run the first test with two scenes in opposite colors, such as white and black. That contrast exposes an early or late cut without confusing it with the design.

Stay under two seconds

Export and inspect
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 5:37 ↗Download MP4, watch it outside Canva, and remove blank pages or unwanted audio. Check duration and resolution in the file properties. Move the file to a stable folder before loading it in OBS so clearing Downloads does not break the transition later.

Add Stinger in OBS
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 6:07 ↗In Scene Transitions click plus, choose Stinger, and load the file. Give it a versioned name, such as Blue stinger v2. In Properties choose the available transition point type, frames or milliseconds, and start with the full-coverage moment you noted.

Test in Studio Mode

Move Transition Point a few frames or milliseconds per attempt until the cut happens under full coverage. Repeat with camera and game because a slow source can reveal a frame that the color test missed.
What you should see: The scene changes under coverage.
If something does not work
- It changes too early
- Increase Transition Point in small steps. Use two scenes with opposite colors to see whether the cut happens before the video fills the canvas.
- It covers the whole scene
- A regular MP4 has no alpha. Design coverage into the video or review track matte.
- It feels slow
- Shorten duration and remove decorative animation.
- OBS will not load it
- Open the MP4 in a player, confirm the file is still at the same path, and select it again. If it fails, export an MP4 copy without audio and test that copy.

Does it need transparency?
Not for the full coverage shown. A regular MP4 fills the frame as part of the design. OBS documents Track Matte as another workflow where a mask controls which scene appears.
Where is the cut point?
In Stinger properties, using the available milliseconds or frames setting.
Will any MP4 work?
Check that OBS can read it and that it opens outside Canva.
Why use Canva?
It lets you repeat pages and positions without a complex timeline.
How do I calculate the transition point?
Find the first frame where the video fully covers the old scene. Use it as the starting point, then adjust in small steps in Studio Mode until no flash from the new scene appears.
