Step by step
- 01
Define multichat
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 1:01 ↗Open BotRix Live and decide whether you need a private operating panel or a public overlay. Each platform keeps its own rules and moderation actions. A private panel is usually enough for moderation. Test one platform at a time and keep native chats open for enforcement.
What you should see: You know which chats and permissions are included.
- 02
Connect Twitch and KICK
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 1:31 ↗Link Twitch and KICK separately and confirm the channel name after each authorization. Add BotRix as a KICK moderator through roles or /mod if the current flow requests it. Send one short message in each connected chat and confirm the icon or label BotRix assigns before adding YouTube.
What you should see: Both platforms are active.

Each platform is connected separately before opening the overlay. YouTube · 1:51 ↗ - 03
Connect YouTube
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 2:32 ↗Choose the channel that will broadcast and grant chat access when BotRix requests it. If YouTube has no available chat, leave that platform off so the panel does not look broken.
What you should see: YouTube points to the right channel.
- 04
Authorize in YouTube Studio
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 3:02 ↗Add BotRix with the access level shown by the panel and check the connection again. Select the channel that will actually broadcast because one Google account may manage several. If you switch channels, revoke the previous authorization before repeating the flow so you do not diagnose messages from the wrong stream.
What you should see: Authorization is saved.

YouTube Studio lets you add the Botrix account with the role requested by the current flow. YouTube · 3:21 ↗ - 05
Configure the overlay
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 3:33 ↗Select only connected platforms and decide whether to show emotes, names, and icons. Use type that can handle long usernames and limit visible lines. If Twitch is one destination during a simulcast, keep this view private. Twitch allows combined tools for personal use but restricts showing combined activity from other services to viewers.
What you should see: Preview shows selected chats.

The view lets you choose platforms and reading options before bringing chat into OBS. YouTube · 4:01 ↗ - 06
Load it as a panel
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 4:34 ↗Copy the URL and open Docks, Custom Browser Docks in OBS if your version offers it. Paste the URL, give the dock a name, and set enough width for long usernames. Send one message per platform and confirm the dock updates without becoming part of the broadcast canvas.
What you should see: You can read without covering the scene.
- 07
Load Browser Source
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 5:35 ↗For an overlay allowed on the chosen destination, add the URL as Browser Source and set width, height, and transparency. When Twitch is also live, do not show a combined cross-platform chat there. Use the private dock to operate and keep only content that follows Twitch's simulcast rules in its scene.
What you should see: Chat appears in a safe zone.
- 08
Validate public YouTube chat
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 6:06 ↗Use an active visible stream with live chat available. Check delay with one short message.
What you should see: Real YouTube messages arrive.
- 09
Identify each platform
Nicole Rojas | YouTube | 8:09 ↗Use icons or labels and platform notices only when your panel offers them.
What you should see: You know where each message came from.
If something does not work
- YouTube has no chat
- Confirm you selected the right channel, the stream is active and visible, and live chat is enabled. Send one message from YouTube before reconnecting BotRix.
- It takes time to connect
- Test one platform at a time. If Twitch arrives and KICK does not, inspect only the KICK account and role. If none arrive, renew dashboard authorization before changing the design.
- KICK does not enter
- Confirm account and moderator role.
- It covers the game
- Reduce height, limit visible lines, and move the source away from the HUD. If only you need it, remove Browser Source from the scene and use the private dock.
Test before you go live
- You know which chats and permissions are included.
- Both platforms are active.
- YouTube points to the right channel.
- Authorization is saved.
- Preview shows selected chats.
- You can read without covering the scene.

Do I need to stream on all three?
No. Connect only the chats you will actually read. A platform without an active stream or available chat can stay off. Keep each native chat available for moderation and use BotRix as the reading view.
Does it replace native chat?
No. It is a unified view, so keep native tools available.
Can viewers see it?
It can appear as a Browser Source where the destination rules allow it. During a Twitch simulcast, keep multichat for personal use and do not show viewers combined activity from other platforms.
Why is YouTube disconnected?
An active stream or live chat may be missing. Check Studio.
Does it save messages?
Do not assume that. The workflow shows live chat, not a permanent archive.
