Choose how to distribute the signal

Start with a relay if your connection or computer has little headroom. Choose separate outputs when you need a different resolution, encoder, or bitrate per destination. Do not open three channels out of habit. Two destinations are enough to find out whether the setup holds.
What you should see: You can draw a simple route from OBS to each platform and explain why you chose that method.

Check Twitch's simulcasting rules
Official Twitch Simulcasting Guidelines ↗Open the official guide before planning the broadcast. Twitch allows simulcasting unless your agreement requires exclusivity. The Twitch experience cannot be worse than the experience on another platform, and you cannot use Twitch to send viewers to a concurrent stream elsewhere. A combined chat can work as a private dashboard. Check the guide again before showing messages from other platforms on your Twitch broadcast.
What you should see: Your setup keeps Twitch quality comparable and does not direct its audience elsewhere during the simulcast.

Protect every stream key

Keep it out of desktop notes, screenshots, the OBS preview, and recorded tutorials. If a key appeared on screen, revoke it and create another one before broadcasting. That minute of work costs much less than recovering a hijacked channel.
What you should see: Each destination connects with its own key, and no key appears in a scene, recording, or screenshot.

Connect one destination first

In Aitum, open Docks > Aitum Multistream, enter the main canvas settings, and add an output. Select the service and paste its connection details. Plans, access, and menu names change. Your current dashboard is the reference. Activate one destination before adding the next so a failure has a clear cause.
What you should see: The first dashboard shows an active connection and receives picture and sound during a short test.

Prepare the broadcast on every platform

Then open every platform dashboard and check the title, category, language, privacy, and thumbnail. A relay may retain old metadata or connect to the wrong event. Review the final dashboards, not only OBS. If TikTok does not show access for external streaming software, the plugin cannot grant it.
What you should see: Every destination shows the correct event, current title, and the visibility you selected for the test.

Calculate upload before using separate outputs
Nicole, encoders and internet load ↗With a relay, OBS usually uploads one signal. With separate outputs, add the video and audio bitrate for every destination. Leave headroom for connection swings, the game, chat, and other people on the network. Measure over Ethernet where and when you plan to stream. If the total sits near your stable upload rate, lower one output or use a relay. The provider's advertised maximum is not a test result.
What you should see: Your total bitrate stays below the upload rate the test sustains, with visible room for a brief drop.

Run a complete test and read Stats
Nicole, starting outputs and reading Stats ↗Broadcast privately or as unlisted for at least ten minutes. Talk, play the game, switch scenes, and trigger an alert. Confirm picture and sound on another device for every platform. In OBS, open View > Stats and note network dropped frames, rendering lag, and encoding lag. If one value climbs, change one variable and repeat the same test.
What you should see: Both destinations play the complete test, and you know whether the limit is network, rendering, or encoding.

Leave a simple plan for the live show
Nicole, choosing the right setup ↗Choose one primary chat and keep the others in a dashboard visible only to your team. Assign who watches messages and alerts. Save a one-destination setup so you can switch quickly if a platform fails. Before going live, read the titles once more and confirm the connection indicators. A stable multistream can be boring to operate. That is a good sign.
What you should see: You can start, moderate, and stop every output without searching for keys or improvising in front of viewers.
If something does not work
- One platform stays offline while the other works.
- Stop only the failing output. Check that its event is still active, copy the server and key again from the official dashboard, and review account permissions. Test that destination alone before enabling the rest. If the key appeared in a screenshot, revoke it first.
- OBS drops frames or the game stutters with Aitum.
- Open Stats and separate network, rendering, and encoding trouble. For a network problem, reduce total bitrate or switch to a relay. For encoding trouble, test a hardware encoder, a smaller output, or one destination. Change one variable per test and save the result.
- The broadcast has an old title or opens the wrong event.
- Stop the test and open that platform's dashboard. Select the right event, correct the title, category, and privacy, then reconnect it in the relay if needed. Confirm the change in a signed-out window before the public broadcast.

Should I use Restream or Aitum Multistream?
Restream and other relays reduce the load because OBS sends one signal. Aitum gives you more control per platform, but each output can add network and encoding work. Check the relay's current plan and test Aitum with your OBS version before choosing.
Is multistreaming from OBS really free?
OBS and some plugins may be free, but a relay can limit destinations or features under its current plan. There is also a technical cost: more upload, more computer load, and more moderation. Check what your account includes today before announcing how many platforms you will use.
Can I stream on Twitch and YouTube at the same time?
Yes, if you follow Twitch's simulcasting rules and any agreement specific to your account. Keep the Twitch experience comparable, do not send its audience to the concurrent broadcast, and read the official guide before making a major format change.
Can I use one bitrate for every destination?
You can reuse one encode when the method supports it, but that signal must work within every destination's limits. Separate outputs let you tune each platform. They add load, so a stable test matters more than a number copied from another channel.
Does Aitum give me a TikTok Live stream key?
No. Aitum uses the connection details the platform gives your account. If TikTok does not show a compatible method for external streaming software, installing the plugin does not create access. Check the TikTok dashboard and use only the route shown there.
