Open Stream Together
Official Stream Together help ↗Open Stream Together in Creator Dashboard or the Collaboration panel in Stream Manager. Twitch says an account does not need monetization status to use it.
What you should see: Backstage opens with call controls.

Choose camera and microphone

Invite by name or private link
Official Stream Together help ↗Search for the person or send the obfuscated link privately. Regenerate a leaked link. A user blocked by someone in the call cannot enter through it.
What you should see: Only the planned people appear in the room.

Add browser sources to OBS
Nicole, browser sources ↗Copy the group source or one per guest from Browser Sources. In OBS, add Browser Source, paste the URL, and name it for that person.
What you should see: Every camera appears in an identified source.

Use one audio route
Nicole, audio through OBS ↗Choose desktop capture or Control via Streaming Software. Do not leave both. For OBS control, check that each voice moves one mixer meter once.
What you should see: The recording plays every voice without echo.

Build a flexible scene
Nicole, one source per guest ↗Keep a group scene and separate sources for close-ups. Test what happens when a guest disables video or shares a screen.
What you should see: The layout survives a disabled camera without a confusing gap.

Set safety and performance
Nicole, moderators and performance ↗Assign Stream Together mods, limit invitations, and review maximum quality. A mod can mute, remove, or report. Hide backstage preview or reduce quality if performance drops.
What you should see: The team can remove a guest and the call stays stable.

Run a private test with everyone
Nicole, preparing before live ↗Meet backstage early and check names, cameras, and one sentence from every microphone. Record shot changes, screen sharing, and a disabled camera. Nobody should discover their audio route live.
What you should see: The recording contains everyone without echo, clipping, or wrong names.

Agree on an emergency exit
Official Stream Together help ↗Decide who pauses the conversation, who removes a guest, and which scene covers a disconnect. Regenerate any exposed links. End the test call and confirm browser sources become empty.
What you should see: The team can handle a disconnect or unsafe guest within seconds.
If something does not work
- The camera is busy.
- Start OBS Virtual Camera from a scene and select it in Stream Together.
- Voices echo.
- Use desktop audio or browser-source audio. Mute the other route and record again.
- A browser-source URL leaked.
- Regenerate URLs in settings and replace every OBS source using the old ones.
- One person freezes or loses audio.
- Lower their maximum quality, hide backstage preview, and stop uploads. If they do not recover, remove their source and use the layout prepared for fewer people.

Do I need Affiliate status for Stream Together?
Current Twitch help says it is available to accounts regardless of monetization status.
Can I invite someone who is not streaming?
Yes. A guest can join through a browser or mobile app without broadcasting to their own channel.
Why is call audio duplicated?
It usually enters through desktop audio and the browser source. Keep one route.
Can I show each guest separately?
Yes. Copy one source per participant to control size, position, and audio in OBS.
Does Shared Chat start automatically?
No. The host chooses when to start it. Guests can leave Shared Chat without leaving the call. Confirm moderation ownership before enabling it.
